Mathematical Transfer of Learning

Transfer of learning occurs when a student is motivated to learn a subject, has prior background on the subject, and knows how to link new knowledge to existing understanding. Dr. Taylor studies the effects of a student's career choice on his/her/their ability to transfer mathematical knowledge to other disciplines.

Creative Writing in Applied Mathematics

Creative writing is typically only considered in the language arts. However, STEM disciplines offer ample opportunities to use our creative writing skills! Dr. Taylor studies the ways that creative writing can be used to enhance learning in different fields of applied mathematics.


Classroom Tools & Technologies and the Impacts on Mathematics Student Learning

Classroom tools an technologies evolve everyday. From the overhead projector to the smart board, this evolution greatly affects the manner in which students learn. Dr. Taylor studies  instructor-chosen classroom tools and technology effects on mathematics students learning and the early indicators of these effects. Her results can be used to find a suitable teaching mix for certain courses.
